CO2 Fractional Laser Facial Treatment
For firmer, smoother, and more even-toned skin
This treatment is one of the most effective, versatile, and visually impactful methods for facial rejuvenation. The impressive results are guaranteed with the right expertise and high-tech equipment.
The essence of the treatment lies in directing the energy of a laser beam with the appropriate wavelength into the skin in microscopic columns. This stimulates the formation of new collagen fibers, while the skin between the columns remains untouched. Older types of lasers used to burn the entire skin surface, leading to a recovery period of several weeks and significantly higher risks of complications. The new fractional laser technique has shortened the healing time to just a few days, as regeneration starts immediately from the untouched skin islands.
Fractional CO2 laser treatment offers a solution for sun-damaged and aging skin, visibly improving rough, scarred, and pigmented skin. The treatment results in the disappearance of fine lines, smoothing of deeper wrinkles, and a firmer, younger, plumper, and more radiant skin with a more even tone.
Treatment Procedure:
After cleaning, disinfecting, and anesthetizing the face or the desired skin area, the treatment begins. The machine settings and treatment intensity are selected individually, based on the patient’s specific concerns. With the latest equipment, the treatment duration is significantly shortened, as the machine can deliver the same energy extremely rapidly, reducing the discomfort associated with the procedure. A facial treatment takes approximately 20 minutes. After the treatment, a soothing face mask, followed by calming face cream and sunblock, is applied to the patient’s face.
Post-Treatment:
The skin may be slightly swollen and red for 2-3 days, followed by barely noticeable peeling after a few days. Improvement is noticeable as early as one week after the treatment, but the skin continues to improve over 2-3 or even up to 6 months as new collagen fibers develop. Week by week, the skin becomes stronger, more toned, and pores, scars, and acne marks visibly diminish, while wrinkles gradually smooth out, and sagging skin becomes firmer. This treatment is excellent for postponing the need for eyelid surgery and supports maintaining the results of previous eyelid or facelift surgeries. The longevity of the treatment’s results varies individually, with a generally enduring improvement achieved. While a single treatment yields noticeable improvement, we usually recommend 3-4 sessions for the ideal outcome, with maintenance treatments required 1-2 times a year.
Due to photosensitivity, it is advisable to schedule the treatment during the fall, winter, or spring months.
Contraindications: Active inflammation in the area, herpes, pregnancy, breastfeeding.
Treated Areas:
- Aging facial skin, neck, décolletage, and back of hands
- Eye area
- Perioral lines (cigarette wrinkles)
- Scars
- Rough-pored skin
- Stretch marks
IPL Photorejuvenation
IPL (intense pulsed light) or flash therapy is an extremely popular treatment due to its minimal downtime and effectiveness in targeting sun-damaged, pigmented skin, wrinkles, dilated blood vessels, facial redness, and significantly improving skin texture and tone. This gentle, non-invasive method can be applied to various body areas, commonly used for the face, neck, décolletage, back of hands, and long-term hair removal.
The flash system generates intense light pulses, the frequency, intensity, and duration of which are tailored to the specific skin type and the type of skin changes. By being absorbed in specific pigments (chromophores) such as melanin and oxyhemoglobin, the light stimulates the production of collagen and elastic fibers, reducing visible imperfections and improving skin structure, making it appear smoother, firmer, and younger.
Application Areas:
- Wrinkled, sun-damaged facial skin, décolletage, and neck
- Facial redness, dilated blood vessels, rosacea
- Pigmented spots
- Scars
- Rough-pored skin
- Stretch marks
- Long-term hair removal
Pre- and Post-Treatment Guidelines for IPL and Diode Laser Treatments:
Before Treatment:
- Strictly avoid sun exposure or UV radiation to the treated skin area for at least 4 weeks.
- Do not use self-tanning creams on the treated area for 4 weeks before treatment.
- If necessary, shave the hair from the treated area just before the procedure to avoid surface reactions. Men should preferably shave the area twice before treatment, as hair loss may occur in pigment spot treatment around the beard area.
- Postpone treatment in case of taking light-sensitive medications or applying them locally, and avoid using certain herbs (e.g., antibiotics, iron supplements, sedatives, diuretics, St. John’s wort).
- Arrive with clean skin, without makeup.
- Areas with tattoos or permanent makeup should not be treated.
- If prone to herpes, consider starting antiviral therapy three days before the treatment.
After Treatment:
- Modern IPL skin rejuvenation is a gentle, non-invasive therapy with no expected downtime, allowing immediate resumption of professional and leisure activities. The treated area can be cooled slightly.
- Mild reactions, similar to sunburn, may occur and usually resolve within a few hours after treatment.
- Slight redness, swelling, and bruising are normal reactions that may persist for a few days.
- The skin is more sensitive for 2-3 days after treatment. Use a gentle cleanser with warm water and avoid vigorous rubbing.
- Everyday moisturizers can be applied immediately after treatment if there is no surface skin damage, and makeup can be applied as well.
- Avoid sun exposure, tanning beds, and self-tanning creams between treatments. Use at least SPF 30 broad-spectrum sunscreen, reapplied every 2 hours. Wearing a hat in the sun is also recommended.
- The treated pigmented areas may appear darker after treatment and may gray. Allow these areas to heal naturally; do not scratch.
- Avoid hot baths, saunas, and intense sweating for 24-48 hours after treatment or until redness has completely disappeared.
- Avoid irritating cosmetics (e.g., fruit acid products and skin scrubs) for one week.
- Chemical peels, facials, and microdermabrasion should be avoided for one week.
- Treatments are typically repeated every 4-6 weeks. For pigment spots, 1-2 treatments may be sufficient, but maintenance treatments are usually needed. In the case of diffuse redness (such as rosacea), 4-5 treatments may be necessary.
